What is 3D Secure Authentication?
3D Secure (3-domain structure) Authentication, also known as a payer authentication, is a security protocol that helps to prevent fraud for online credit card and debit card transactions. It allows banks to request extra details from a card holder to verity a purchase.
What Countries Use 3D Secure Authentication?
3D Secure is used extensively in the EU, Australia, India, Brazil, Mexico, Singapore, and other countries. It reduces the risk of fraudulent payments and makes online shopping and ecommerce much safer. For instance, 3D Secure Authentication is not prevalent in the US, where bank card fraud is about 4 times higher compared to the EU.
What to do when 3D Secure Authentication Fails?
If you receive a "3D Authentication failed" error, it means that you have not entered the required information successfully. Please double check that Caps Lock is disabled and repeat the process making sure there are no typing errors.
If the error remains, please contact your credit card issuer – which is usually a bank – for additional information.
